HimRights has been serving as a friend of the United Nations as a front-runner human rights movement with a non-governmental, non-partisan, and non-profit making independent approach. Its vibrant history goes back to the ceaseless campaign for the restoration of multi-party system in 1990 followed by the promulgation of the Constitution in Nepal.

HimRights is committed to defend the rights of the underprivileged section of the society namely, women, children, minorities, indigenous people, refugees, internally displaced persons and so called untouchables and the specially disabled people. Women and children are the primary focus of the organization
All members of HimRights have something in common: They all coming from different background, as the team comprises of lawyers, teachers, journalists, anthropologists, conflict & development experts and social workers human rights activists, but all of them share the guiding principle of International Solidarity for Human Rights and Human Dignity and are trying to fulfil this task via the advancement of human rights, gender justice, democratic development, and the promotion of peace and good governance.

TASK FORCE
Task Force Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism (TF MRM) is a joint monitoring and reporting system that focuses on the situation of children affected by the armed conflict in Makwanpur, Rautahat,.. TR MRM records information on the killing or maiming of children, recruiting or using child soldiers, attacks against schools or hospitals, rape or other sexual violence against children, denial of humanitarian access for children and abduction of children by all the parties involved in the armed conflict. TF MRM also produces annual reports that are submitted to the United Nations. Members of TF MRM are OHCHR, UNICERF, Save the Children Norway, Save the Children USA, Advocacy Forum, CWIN, INSEC, ICRC and HimRights. TR MRM does not have any current funding.
PPCC
The Partnerships for Protecting Children in Armed Conflict (PPCC) project is a joint initiative of local, national and international non-governmental organizations to protect and care for children affected by the armed conflict. In particular, it focuses on monitoring and responding to violations of a child's right to education. Along with documenting the violations and creating policy papers, it also aims to enhance cooperation among organizations and with the parties causing the conflict. The PPCC network currently works in four districts- Bara, Banke, Kailali and Surkhet. The funds provided by KIOS foundation will be used to implement this project. HimRights, Advocacy Forum, Backward Society Education (BASE), Community Study and Welfare Center, Concern for Children and Environment-Nepal, Care Nepal are all contributors to the PPCC project.
NWCD
The National Working Committee on Disappearances (NWCD) was established to identify and initiate collective actions to prevent and fight against abductions and disappearances as a result of the conflict in Nepal. NWCD also aims to increase awareness of disappearances, provide protection for witnesses, victims and their families, provide legal support and counseling while attempting to maintain a good rapport with both opposing parties. Currently NWCD has no funding. Its members are Advocacy Forum, HUDEP, HURON, HURPES, INSEC, NEPAL Bar Association, Amnesty International, ICRC, OHCHR and HimRights. By being a part of this initiative/by being coordinator of this endeavor HimRights aims to create a database that can be submitted to the United Nations.
Beyond Beijing Committee
Incepted and coordinated by INHURED International in 1994, Beyond Beijing Committee (BBC) is a national coalition of over 200 organisations working for the effective realization of women's rights and development, gender justice and the empowerment of women at large across the country.
AATWIN
HimRights is the founding member of the Alliance Against Trafficking-in Women and Children in Nepal (AATWIN). It has been actively involved in advocacy, lobbying , campaign, demonstration, urgent action appeal and policy change on rights based perspective to protect the vulnerable women and children in Nepal and elsewhere.
HRTMCC
Formed in 2003, the Human Rights Treaty Monitoring Coordination Committee ( HRTMCC) is a coalition of 44 human rights organisation that work in almost all areas of human rights, including civil and political rights ;economic, social and cultural rights; rights of women; rights of children; Dalit rights; and the rights of migrants.
Over the years, HRTMCC has been functioning as a national alliance of human rights NGOs in Nepal. It has been coordinating human rights monitoring and dissemination of the findings in the form of alternative/ shadow reports as well as other publications.
Internships
Under its internship and fellowship programs for international and national university students and scholars HimRights has hosted and supervised number of interns on human rights, development and democratization process, conflict, social justice, gender and trafficking from different universities in Canada, USA and other countries in the past. The internship program is also open for students and scholars from Nepal and other Asian countries.
The interns are expected to participate in regular activities of the organization and to follow the office timings. They are also expected to spend major period of their internship in the central office at Kathmandu; however, occasional field visits also may be carried out under the supervision and guidance of the organization staffs.
During their stay the intern may also conduct an individual research on any of the topics as given under besides participating in the ongoing projects of the organization:
- Human Trafficking
- Migration
- Refugees
- Internally Displaced Persons
- Worst form of child labor
- Peace and conflict
The interns are expected
- To spend most of their time in interacting with the concerned stakeholders under their respective area of research.
- To spend at least ten percent of heir time in the field meeting grass root community based organizations and the target groups.
- To meet and interview people at policy and decision making level
- To prepare a brief report (20-25 pages) of their findings for submission to the host organization before their departure.
Minimum requirements
Interns are expected to have fair knowledge about human rights issues, should be computer literate, and should speak English.
