Condemnation on discourteous act to Diplomats in Jhapa District Back
Katmandu May 27, 2007

HimRights is seriously concerned at the disrespectful act like pelting stones at the vehicle of American Ambassador to Nepal Mr. James F Moriarty and Mr. Abraham Abraham, Country Representative, UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) while they were returning from Beldangi Bhutanese Refugee Camp of Jhapa District. Mr. Moriarty and Mr. Abraham had gone to Jhapa to visit refugee camps on the resettlement process of Bhutanese refugees on May 25, 2007.

Nepal Government and Nepalese citizens have responsibility for the security of the diplomats of International Agencies who are working for in Nepal. We strongly condemn of the incident on diplomats of the International Agencies working on humanitarian welfare and the issues of Bhutanese refugee. We believe that the incident is against diplomatic courtesy. HimRights strongly urge the Nepal Government to take necessary actions against the culprit and to make necessary arrangement of efficient security in the country.
